The "conspiracy" continues. My greatest fears last night were justified and confirmed Sunday night as I may have had the most horrific night of my life.
A co-worker of mine, Dan, at the radio station is also a program host on the PSU student station - a station that I despise. For this student station contains the greatest threat I have ever encountered. A few years ago, while I was still in college, I wanted to apply to the student station because it seemed like a good place to get started. I got the application, a cover letter, and resume together and turned it in. I waited to hear from them. I waited. Then, I waited. Surely, with all the prior credentials I was a shoe in to get some time on air. They never called me. So, I proceeded over their heads to ask a faculty advisor just what was going on. I got an email response later saying that they do not have an application on file. It was a lie. It was all a lie. Frustrated, I replied back in an emotional manner.
Months later, I graduated from college.... 'er well... you know this part. I got somewhat a good job. I got a job in commercial radio without the help of the college radio station. Back to the present, I eventually had forgiven the way I was snubbed by the student station. So, the one co-worker (we'll call "John") allowed me to sit in on his Sunday night show. I was even allowed to answer some questions on the air! Unfortunately, "John" used my last name, which jogged the memories of the student station employees of my past squabble, keeping the email that I sent on file. So, "John", under orders, asked me to leave. He asked me if that was me that had issues with the station. At first, I told them that I did not know what they were talking about. Oh, before I was to leave, "John" tried to hook me up with some of the women that were co-hosting the show. They "politely" averted the question. It was okay. This was a night to confirm my greatest fears. I am just too ugly.
The real rage did not start until I went back to the apartment and finish listening to the rest of the student radio broadcast monitoring the show. Like the cowards they are, they proceeded to read my email to them regarding the application issue and openly admitted that they threw out my resume and called me a dork for preparing it that way. So unprofessional! For years after that debacle, I tried to rationalize that the reason I wasn't invited to the student station was because they were afraid of me - that I was going to take their jobs. I thought that my imagination was getting the best of me. Now, I know the truth though. I wasn't being paranoid. There really is a conspiracy against me. Only question now is... how far does it go? Does it extend to WRSC where I work now? Has my miserable existence proven to be one of a poor soul as a victim of some cruel joke of life? I know what kind of monsters that run the student station WKPS. Tonight, my greatest fears were realized.
How dare they humiliate me!
I haven't slept at all yet. I stayed up fuming at what I can do to get even with them.
They'll get theirs!

Surprise Guest for WRSC|WBLF Interview
I got another amazing opportunity in the hockey world.
Working on another assignment for WRSC/WBLF, I went over to the PSU Ice Rink for the PSU vs. Towson game. I recognized the head coach of the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins, Glen Patrick in attendance. Knowing the Patrick family as friendly and approachable, I politely made conversation with him and introduced myself as a radio broadcaster. I asked Glen if he would go on the air for an interview after the game. I had already run into his brother Craig at the icers games - Craig being the GM of the Penguins.
My friend Dan was really impressed as I talked at length with Coach Patrick about the Penguins franchise, it's players, and talking about recruiting from the college ranks. Yes, I did get a recording of it and hopefully use the experience in my career as a broadcaster again someday soon.

Michael's Second Broadcast Debut
Write this date down in history!!! Michael Fedor has made his broadcast debut tonight as he jumped at the opportunity to do the color commentating for WBLF 970 AM. I got to call the Bellefonte Red Raiders against the Pens Valley Rams. It was a good rivalry game as Bellefonte is the next town over to the east of Penn State.
During the first half.. the home team cheerleaders came up and asked what refreshments we wanted. Later, I got in to thank them on the air and said this... "Let me tell you something Dave, those girls had stars in their eyes..." Of course following along,... they said that it was probably because they had been wearing glitter make-up!
The next best thing is that I was taking notes during the whole game, kinda like a makeshift box score. I got to re-read it all at the end. The other two guys that I was broadcasting with were really impressed with the initiative that I showed.
All-in-all, the Bellefonte team won big 22-0... and I begin a long and illustrious career in radio!

First real day of broadcasting at WRSC 1390 AM
"Out of the frying pan and into the fire" is what I think I could call my first real day of broadcasting at WRSC 1390 AM
Monday wasn't so bad. I had the guy that I was taking over for sit with me in the studio and watched me run the board while the actual broadcasters of the show had all the fun being at Hooters Restaurant doing what we in the broadcasting business call a "live remote". Today was a little different. I had to do everything on my own! Extenuating circumstances had caused me to just operate from the studios with little or no help what so ever! The Program Manager had to leave because his mother was having surgery on her eyes, and tonight was a “live remote” from Damon’s Restaurant. Unfortunately, they could not interact with me as they did not have Internet access from the rib restaurant. Although I could hear them in the speakers in the studio, there was no way I could talk back to them to let them know I was screwing everything up! I didn’t completely know how to run the commercials from the computer software so I was a little behind on them. Not only that, the big boss General Manager called the station to say that there were overlapping broadcasts. I had to explain to him that I was doing the best I could under the It was supposed to be a sports show about the local State College little league baseball. At 7 pm, after the longest 2 hours of my life, I got a call back from the Production Manager to talk me through the shut down mode and going back to automation by the computer.
I am going to dedicate some time in the studio tomorrow to get my bearings with this broadcast. I’ll go in early before my shift to make sure I understand how to run the equipment. Hopefully, I’ll do a better job of it knowing that I have some help available.
